Each question carries 25 marks 



SECTION A

 

1 Examine the challenges faced by scholars in the reconstruction of Zimhabwe's pre-colonial history.

2 Assess the impact of the natural environment on the San and Khoikhot societies.

3 Evaluate the impact of Bantu migrations on the Zimbabwean plateau.

4 Analyse the internal structure of the Mapungubwe State.

 

SECTION B

 

5 “The Rozvi state was a victim of plunder by the Mfecane groups.” How justifiable is this verdict on the decline of the Rozvi State?

6  Compare the impact of Swahili and Portuguese activities on the Zimbabwean plateau.

7 “A curse and a blessing at the same time.” How far do you agree with this verdict of missionary presence in the Ndebele State?

8 To what extent did external support contribute to the defeat of the Ndebele in the Anglo-Ndebele war of 1893 —94.

 

 

SECTION C

 

9 Evaluate the impact of the various Acts passed by settlers on Africans between 1901 and 1940.

10 “External factors contributed more to the rise of mass nationalism in Zimbabwe than internal

ones between 1940 and 1955”. Discuss.

11 Explain steps taken in the formation of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in 1953,

12 Assess the role played by J M Nkomo in Zimbabwean politics up to 1979.

 

SECTION D

 

13 Evaluate the impact of educational reforms on post-independence Zimbabwe from 1980 to 2000.

14 “Unresolved challenges led to  the rise of opposition parties in Zimbabwe up to the year 2000.” Discuss.

15 To what extent has the Government of Zimbabwe succceded in empowering women since 1980.

16 Examine challenges faced by the Zimbabwe Government's indigenisation programme since 1980.
